Bowe Bergdahl - Defector & Traitor

I think most of my readers, (as few as they seem to be lately) are familiar with Sergeant (and I use that term loosely) Bowe Bergdahl, the military man who walked off his post in Afghanistan, and who was, subsequently, taken prisoner by the Taliban.

And lo, and behold, our president (whom someone else voted for twice) traded 5 terrorist suspects from the prison in Guantanamo for this defector and traitor to our country.

(I mean, what's wrong with this picture)?

Charges against Sergeant Bergdahl have now officially been filed, and the "man" will face a court martial sometime in the next few months. His lawyer claims the "good" sergeant doesn't deserve prison time. He simply walked away from his post, and this action is hardly worthy of being locked away for the rest of his life.

Really?

Well, to begin with, Bergdahl set the rest of his Army unit up for failure, as there can be little doubt he was interrogated by the Taliban. They say "Loose lips sink ships." They also get ground troops killed.

It is reported that several of our American soldiers were killed in an attempt to locate Sergeant Bergdahl; (although, to be fair, there is some dispute about the veracity of this claim).

And amazingly, as I have already inferred, 5 radical Islamists were freed in a deal which resulted in Bowe's release, and were provided the opportunity to kill American or allied troops again.

If anyone in modern military history deserves the death penalty for having betrayed his country, this man does.
