My wife and I were watching “America’s Got Talent” tonight, and a precious little 5 year old girl suddenly strutted her stuff across the stage. “Heavenly Joy” was dressed in a gray blouse and slacks with white and red accessories.
As the music began, the little tyke began tap dancing and belting out a popular tune, and I can tell you she did an absolutely remarkable job of it.
As “Heav” finished her routine, the four judges seemed to be beaming from ear to ear, and clapped wildly. When the cheering of the audience finally died down, Howard Stern, the popular host of smut radio, (and an obvious infidel) looked directly at the little girl, and spoke to her.
“That was good, Heav. You must have Shirley Temple living inside of you.”
To which the kindergartner responded,
“No, I don’t.
…I have Jesus living inside of me!”
Wow. Talk about a spontaneous and fitting reply, and one which the vulgar radio host, and A.G.T. judge, Howard Stern, needed to hear.
There’s a couple popular phrases in our culture. “Out of the mouths of babes” and “A little child shall lead them.” Who can deny this was one of those “for just such a time as this” moments when an adult was taught by a child, and God was gracious to make Himself known.
