HEAVEN CAN'T BE TOO FAR AWAY

In 2014 a grieving mother, Marie Robinson, was visiting the gravesite of her recently deceased 4 year old son; who had died from a brain tumor. As she stood there she desperately wished for a sign, some clue that her little boy was safe in the arms of God.

Suddenly, a robin (her son's favorite bird) landed on the little boy's headstone, and (amazingly) flew over to her, and landed on her hand! The little bird remained in her outstretched hand for a minute before flying away. (And yes, there is a video and I have seen it).

While I draw the scriptural line when it comes to attempting to contact the dead, I think this kind of scenario occurs more often than we might imagine. It has been said that as many as half of grieving husbands and wives experience some sort of unexpected "visitation" after the death of their loved one. While it goes without saying that some of these experiences may be psychological in context, they cannot all be so easily explained away.

My own mother awoke from sleep one morning, and claims to have seen my late father sitting in the rocking chair by her bed. While he said nothing, he had the most compelling smile on his face. A moment later, he disappeared. As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, I'm convinced that heaven may not be all that far away, and our believing loved ones may be closer than we imagine.
