(Cont.)
Now, I don't know if Cary Grant and Tony Curtis were believers, or whether Presidents Kennedy and Clinton were/are (respectively) God-fearing people. (Based on their lives and behavior, it seems rather doubtful). Nonetheless, the scenarios I described in the initial blog are indicative of a couple of variables characterized by the words, 'Destiny' and 'Providence.' And if the lives of non-believers and infidels are governed by a pre-determined set of circumstances, (which God has set in place) how much more the lives of those who fear and reverence God?
As a believer, I take a great deal of comfort in the promises of our Creator; enumerated in the Old and New Testaments.
"My times are in His hands." (Psalm 31:15)
(and)
"The Lord will accomplish that which concerns me." (Psalm 138:8)
(and)
"Faithful is He who has called you, and He will also do it." (1st Thess. 5:24)
Scripture assures us that God knew us before we were conceived, and that He foreordained our lives to His will and service. (Of course, literally billions of earth's inhabitants have failed to heed His will, and have ignored the privilege which comes with serving Him).
But for them who will surrender their own wills to the Almighty, and commit their lives to His service, God has promised to shape and secure our very destinies, to provide us the privilege of His mercy and grace in this life, and His inestimable presence in the life to come.
