Second Verse. Same as the First

“Second verse. Same as the first…”

Seems like ‘it’ happens again and again, and there’s absolutely no respite in sight.

Another ‘Blue on Black’ scenario. Matter of fact, a couple of them in a couple of days.

“When will it ever end? When will it ever end?”

I admit it. I’m biased in favor of the Blue.

You know, those guys out there that are paid to keep order among us. Granted, I’m a Caucasian. (Or mostly. As the result of a DNA test I discovered the figure is closer to 98%. But that’s a whole different blog).

At any rate, over the past few years when Blue on Black scenarios occur it wasn’t for nothing that things have fallen together as they have.

Take Michael Brown, for instance. The man had just robbed a convenience store. I mean, give me a break. And there are ‘for instances’ after ‘for instances’ in which the ‘victim’ failed to comply with a  lawful order having been involved in a recent crime, or who was carrying and waving around a toy gun which looked like the ‘real McCoy’ or who appeared to be reaching for a weapon.

I know the foregoing verbiage isn’t Politically Correct, but I won’t apologize for expressing my opinion. Now to be sure, this is not to say that in some cases the officer over-reacted, or exaggerated the significance of that which was occurring in his or her presence. However, when a ‘defendant,’ for lack of a better word, has just perpetrated a crime or fails to comply …unfortunate things happen. I mean, Chris Rock has an epitaph filled video out there which speaks to the wisdom of compliance over ‘playing the fool.’

And then there is the absolute ‘bull crap in a chef salad’ going on in Charlotte, North Carolina the past couple of nights. Young hoodlums taking advantage of a bad situation and making it worse. Looting, burning, pillaging, jumping up and down on police cars, breaking store windows, and throwing rocks and firecrackers at police. Total bedlam. Total hooliganism. The governor has just called out the National Guard to restore order.

People like this, (if they can be referred to as ‘people’) have little or no concern for the victims of Blue on Black ‘crime.’ They are simply unregenerate hooligans intent on destruction and getting what they can darn-well get while they have the opportunity to get it; as the result of the corporate action of hundreds of people with the same agenda as themselves.

I think Martin Luther King had it just about right. And the longer I live, the more I respect the man and the manner in which he operated. Had we the power to bring him back for a minute or an hour or a day, there is little doubt that he would have ‘somewhat to say on the matter.’
