I suppose every saint and sinner, alike, have heard the story.
After God made everything he could possibly think of making, He
realized His extravagant handiwork was missing only one small thing. And thus,
He did something He was quite adept at doing.
26 “And God said, ‘Let us
make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the
fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over
all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’”
27 “So
God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and
female created he them.” (Genesis 1:26-27)
The
Lord God, the Master of the universe, the Alpha and Omega, the First and the
Last, the great “I AM” created the supreme jewel of all His created beings. He
fashioned and breathed life into Adam and Eve; our first parents. He formed
them in His own image, and endowed them with His best attributes.
Strength,
Awareness, Reason, Understanding, and Free Will
He
did not withhold any of these qualities from them. For He could not be content
with a people who lacked any wherewithal to serve or not serve Him, as they
jolly well chose to do or not do.
And
having done so, He understood the ramifications of having created such a
complex being. And eons before He made the earth and the stars, He understood
mankind’s propensity to resist or yield to temptation, and to make both good
and bad choices.
But
in His great love wherewith He has loved us, He refused to create a world full
of automatons; a people who possessed absolutely no wherewithal to resist His
will, or to do or not do whatever lay in his heart to do or not do.
