Persons of excellence who have caught a vision for their respective futures, and having completed a season of preparation have gone on to do marvelous things. Others who have languished in their own mediocrity, or have simply chosen to go their own way, and in so doing have brought dispersion on the providential plans God dreamed for them before He made the worlds. And there are those among us whose random accidents, bad habits, ‘bad luck’ or mental incapacitation have deprived the world of greatness.
A
tenacious decision to, (as I have chosen to characterize it) cooperate with the
Almighty, or a resolute commitment to yield to temptation, trade long term
results for short term satisfaction, and sacrifice one’s character for the sake
of “sin for a season.”
The
ultimate, and inestimable regret which flows from flawed and fornicated
thoughts, words and actions, and a premeditated unwillingness to be all that
one was ever meant to be. And in so doing desperately impact those within our
sphere of influence, and rob them of health and happiness, and deter God’s best
and brightest plans for their own lives.
But
as I have inferred earlier, God never created, nor set in motion a world
populated by unknowing, uncaring robots who possessed no wherewithal to choose
ill or good, to walk the straight and narrow, or stray from the beaten path, to
love him or leave Him.
I
suppose we will never understand why bad things happen to good people, nor why good
things happen to bad people. Nor will we ever comprehend why God’s thoughts are
not our thoughts, nor His ways, our ways.
We
are, however, left with the principle of free will, and man’s God-given,
inherent right to decide as he or she wishes to decide, and do as he or she
wishes to do.
All
this being said, I have long since arrived at three incontrovertible
conclusions:
There
is one God
(and)
I’m
not Him
(but,
ultimately)
“We’ll
understand it all by and by.”
