Three Strikes

In recent days, one of Florida’ largest cities has been the focus of the most amazing series of events; which have two variables in common.

The geographic region in which all of the episodes occurred, and a regretful loss of life.

On June 11th one of the 2014 finalists of “The Voice,” Christina Grimmie, was murdered by a crazed gunman, as her performance concluded, and she was signing autographs and posing for photos.

On June 12th 49 patrons of a ‘gay’ nightclub were killed, and 50 were wounded by a radicalized Muslim who, during the course of the massacre, and having called 911 swore allegiance to ISIS. This episode has been referred to as the largest mass shooting in the history of the United States.

On June 14th a toddler from Nebraska was snatched from a Disney resort beach by an alligator. In spite of the frantic efforts of his father and mother, and a Disney lifeguard the gator managed to drag the boy from their grasps, and submerge beneath the waves. The following day the body of the young tyke was found floating in the Disney Lagoon.

The City of Orlando has been called ‘The World’s Theme Park,’ its attractions are lauded far and wide, and have been patronized by visitors from every nation on the planet.

However, the foregoing series of events is one bit of notoriety, both ironic and horrendous, that the city could do without.
