Paradox

Last night I was watching the local news and a story came on about a woman who was badly injured in a car accident; which led to the loss of her unborn child. Paradoxically, the newsman described the loss of the fetus as “the death of her unborn infant.”

I say, ‘paradoxically’ because the demise of unborn fetuses in our culture, as the result of abortion, is rarely described as a ‘death,’ but rather, an ‘elective procedure’ under the guise of ‘women’s health care.’

And especially for the sake of this blog, and them who read it, it is important to note that I have mixed opinions about the age-old examples which are referred to again, and again. Rape, Incest, Deformity, and the Life of the Mother. In my own mind, at least, I can account for such exceptions for those who have struggled to reach their own moral conclusion about the matter.

However, (and in spite of pro-choice advocates’ implication otherwise) these examples are exceptions to the rule, and make up a small fraction of the 1.5 million unborn children in America who are sacrificed each year to convenience.

‘Women’s Reproductive Rights’ advocates too conveniently ignore the rights of the unborn citizens with whom they contend, and ignore the inherent responsibility of men and women to do what they know to do to prevent unwanted pregnancies. After all, from the sixth grade upward children in our society are not only given factual information about ‘the birds and the bees,’ but understand how to avoid conception.
