According to
politicians and the press there is an ongoing “national debate” on the topic of
gun control; (though I think the debate is more imagined than real). Granted,
there has been far too many instances of crazed gunmen going after innocent
people in our schools and theaters, but to label the dynamic as a debate is, I
think, an exaggeration.
But whatever
we call it, it always amazes me that those among politicians and the press who
shout the loudest about gun control take a so-called
… Pro-choice
(or Pro-abortion) stance.
And yet, “the
numbers are in” and while perhaps a hundred or less men, women and children are
killed in instances of mass murder each year in America, 3-5 thousand
pregnancies are terminated on a
daily basis in this
country; (not including the relatively rare, and admittedly controversial
exceptions for deformity, rape, incest and “the life of the mother.”)
It’s time for
politicians and the press to, as the colloquial adage goes, “Wake up and smell
the coffee.” If you’re going to take a stand against gun control, look at the
numbers, and condemn the wholesale practice of abortion which in the years
since Roe vs. Wade has subtracted the potential of a full 50 million potential
lives from this nation.
