As I recall I wrote a previous blog about the real life character of Charles Ingalls; portrayed by Michael Landon in the "Little House on the Prairie" television series.
And since its my blog, I'm taking the liberty of referring to the tv version of the man again.
Although the Little House series is in syndication now, and Michael Landon has long since gone on to his reward, when watching those old re-runs I never cease to be impressed with how believable the setting and characters are.
... Especially Charles.
For if one takes time to watch several of these old segments, two major traits "jump out" at you; (perhaps the two major traits of God, Himself).
Justice and Compassion.
It was seemingly nothing for Charles to "get in (someone's) face;" (if that someone needed their face gotten into). He always told it like it was, and he never "pulled any punches" when he did it.
At the same time, ole Charles knew how to exercise compassion.
As easy as it was for him to challenge a wrongdoer, it was just as easy for him, given the appropriate circumstances, to shed a tear. (Well, lots of tears).
I think maybe the late 19th century Charles Ingalls has something to teach his early 21st century compatriots.
