I was attending a large church in Tampa, 50 years ago, when I was in the Air Force, and one Sunday morning the pastor walked to the mic, and said, "Brother McDonald, will you come to the podium now." I had no idea what he wanted but I got up and walked to the front. In the meantime, unbeknownst to me, an elderly man walked from his seat on the stage to the podium. Brother McDonald was scheduled to speak that morning. When I arrived at the front, Pastor Matheny walked over to me, and said, "Yes, do you need prayer?" I felt pretty humiliated that day. But I guess a little humiliation is good for the soul. After all, the root word for 'humiliation' is Humble.
