Every morning about 4am I walk my dog. I suppose I could
remodel our schedule a bit, but I’m a “morning and night person” and after I
return from walking Queenie, I jump on my bike and peddle 10 miles.
More often than not, as I walk towards what I refer to as the
“dog path” a car or truck will come from one of two directions, and prior to
its arrival, I will step in one of two or three neighbors’ yards with my pooch,
in order to avoid a game of “chicken;” (which I would almost certainly lose).
Today, as usual, a truck came up from behind my dog and I,
and rather quickly, and I stepped out of the way seconds before it rounded the
curve.
Sadly, we don’t have quite as much wherewithal to avoid
life’s figurative “traffic.” Sometimes, most of the time, circumstances catch
us unawares, and “do a work” on us.
Cancer, surgery, marital issues, financial problems, the
death of a loved one.
Thankfully, there is Someone, (with a capital “S”) Who knows
our tomorrows while we are still living out today. In the Old Testament, God
assured Moses that He would be the “I AM” of his every day. Not the “I was” or
the “I will be,” but the “I AM.” In the New Testament, Christ used the same
words to describe Who He was, and in so doing made Himself equal with God, and
proclaimed Himself to be the Son of God.
Those who name the Name of the Lord, and have accepted Him as
their personal Savior can rest assured that nothing catches Him unawares, and
that “before He created us in the womb He knew us,” and “none of our days are
hid from Him.”
