Almost As If He Was Still Here

I have previously written about the following topic, but just feel inclined to return to it again.

My wife and I used to listen to a radio broadcast with a decidedly Christian emphasis called “Night Sounds” with Bill Pearce; an accomplished narrator, baritone soloist and trombonist. At some point, the broadcast was discontinued on our local station, or we simply got busy and quit listening. I don’t recall.

In the declining years of Bill’s life he developed Parkinson’s Disease, and was placed in a skilled nursing facility. But in spite of his significant limitations, he was aware of his surroundings, and concerned that future generations have access to his decades long radio ministry. His producer assured Bill that preparations had been made to assure the survival of his work; something which pleased the elderly man no end.

Ultimately, the accomplished radio host died, but thankfully, “Night Sounds” didn’t die with him. Thousands of his archived radio broadcasts are available at www.nightsoundsradio.org, and may be retrieved at a moment’s notice 24/7/365.

A half hour filled with Mr. Pearce’s commentary about Singleness or Depression or Servanthood; along with quality Christian music.

As the opening theme song fades, and Bill’s rich baritone voice fills the air, it is as if he is still very much with us. He needn’t have been too concerned. His legacy is very much intact,

… and continues to impact generations which will come after him.
