Political Correctness Rules the Day

We live in an age of Political Correctness in which a minority of people seem to decide what should and shouldn't be said. As a son of the south, and as someone whose ancestors fought under the battle flag, I believe our southern forebears would be ashamed of the actions of the senate and house of representatives of South Carolina. (Interesting, that S.C. was the first state which seceded from the Union, and where the first shots were fired).

Please don't get me wrong, I hate the injustice and scourge of slavery, and that can NEVER be defended, but there was a lot more to southern secession than slavery. Most Confederate soldiers were unable to afford the luxury of even one slave, but left their wives and children to tend their farms. And to be sure, as a member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans, I reject the illegitimate use of this flag, by groups such as the KKK, and disdain the man who created this debate when he viciously murdered the 9 precious people in S.C.

If there is any doubt about (at least the current) stand of the federal government, thus far honor and recognition is being afforded to several southern generals of the Civil War. Fort Lee and Fort Jackson are examples of our nation's military facilities which bear these illustrious names;

...(at least until political correctness kicks in).
