Drunk Dolphins

The population of this nation, young and old, and in between experience a higher rate of addiction to substances, liquid and otherwise, than any time in the history of this republic.

People will do a lot of things to escape pain, guilt, shame, depression and circumstances. Some very negative things.

I was watching a segment of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” today, and learned something new and different. (And at my age, I thought it was near impossible to learn anything new and different).

It seems dolphins and puffer fish enjoy, (with the emphasis on “enjoy”) a somewhat symbiotic relationship. However, to be fair the relationship seems to be skewed towards the dolphin.

You see, puffer fish emit a neurotoxin into the surrounding waters, and dolphins have been witnessed in a state of sheer delirium in the vicinity of these fish; and have only reluctantly “gone about their business” hours later.

(You know you’re in trouble when fish succumb to the throes of addiction).

“For my money,” however, the whole thing is cuter and more innocuous with a fish, than the so-called “higher species.”
