It Occurs to Me

It Occurs to Me that

In spite of the intrusive darkness about me, You light my pathway before me

It Occurs to Me that

In spite of all with which I now contend, You contend on my behalf

It Occurs to Me that

For all of that which overwhelms me, You have never once forgotten me

It Occurs to Me that

Though men shall cast me out, You are ever faithful to lift me up

It Occurs to Me that

You who never could forsake me, is mindful of life’s unfairness…and care

It Occurs to Me that

You who regardeth the sparrow regardeth me even more

It Occurs to Me that

When lack is the order of the day, You are my ever-present sufficiency

It Occurs to Me that

For all those things which rob me of happiness, You are my true and abiding joy

It Occurs to Me that

When life has too often vanquished hope, Your goodness is as new as the morning

It Occurs to Me that

While the pride and riches of this world will pass away, Your promises endure forever

It Occurs to Me that

When mortality wraps its dreadful arms about me, immortality is but a breath away
