If my previous “Dear Diary” was controversial, this
one will be equally so. (Perhaps I can begin to move on to less controversial
topics in the future).
Over the past couple of years America has been in the
throes of racial strife, and the source of that contention lies in what has
been referred to as “Blue on Black Crime;” (i.e., African-American males
suffering overt prejudice and assault by members of a local police force).
It seems every time things begin to quiet down,
another incident occurs.
Of course with any series of circumstances such as
these, there is always one which gets the attention of the public and media
more than others. In this case THE scenario of all scenarios involved Michael
Brown of Ferguson, Missouri.
Long story short, a Ferguson policeman, investigating
a convenience store robbery, shot and killed a young African-American man named
Michael Brown, and left him dead in the road.
As a result, the mostly black community of Ferguson
erupted in demonstrations, looting, burning and pillaging. (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would be appalled. This kind of behavior emulates the early, though not eventual, mindset of Malcolm X, as well as The Black Panther Party).
In spite of the almost sacred regard by the news media and demonstrators for Michael Brown , video footage has
been released depicting him robbing a convenience store, and another video in
which Brown assaults his uncle has, subsequently, been released.
The policeman who fired the fatal shot has claimed, and a
grand jury has supported the finding, that Michael Brown was uncooperative, and
physically combative; a response which led to his unfortunate death at the
hands of the police officer.
While it is regrettable that this young man died, when
a suspect fails to comply with an officer’s lawful orders, too often, bad
things happen.
And more times than not, this has been the case in the
vast number of Blue on Black scenarios the past couple of years in America.
Once the facts come out, rarely is the arresting officer charged with a crime.
Michael Brown was a thug. He was NOT a good man. And
he is just one example of numerous examples of the so-called victims of Blue on
Black “crime,” (as well as Blue on White “crime,” for that matter).
While Black Lives Matter (and White and Yellow and Red
lives matter just as much) and it is absolutely deplorable that Michael Brown,
and several others have succumbed to the policemen’s bullets the last couple of
years, two factors have consistently played themselves out in the context of
many, (though not all of) these shootings.
**The so-called “victim” had just committed, or was in
the process of committing a crime.
**The so-called “victim” had refused to cooperate with
the orders of a lawfully appointed magistrate.
No matter what your color, when the foregoing sequence
of events play themselves out, someone usually gets hurt.
Chris Rock has released a not so politically correct, 4 letter laced video in which he criticizes the mentality and behavior pattern of Michael Brown and some of the other thugs who have recently died as the result of altercations with police. His persuasion was, and continues to be, (minus the 4 letter words)
..."Quit robbing and killing and doing crimes which just naturally get the attention of the police. And if a duly appointed representative of the law gives you instructions to do something, then do it. You'll probably live to enjoy another day."

(In my own humble opinion)
…Case closed.
